Rahul’s Story of Hope and Leadership at Joyya
Meet Rahul, the heart and soul of Joyya’s customer care team. If you've placed an order with us, you’ve likely spoken with him. But Rahul’s story goes far beyond customer service—it's a journey marked by resilience, growth, and deep connection to his community.
Rahul’s early years weren’t easy. Raised by his grandmother and aunt while his mother worked in Mumbai, he had to take on odd jobs to support his studies. "After school, my family couldn’t support me financially. I took up many jobs, like being an attendant, to support myself," Rahul shares. Without mentors, he made his own way through industries like BPO, sales, and aviation. Work, for him, was just survival—until Joyya.
"I love my job," Rahul beams. "I get to know new people every day; I interact with them. Each day is a unique learning opportunity." Starting as a customer care representative, Rahul’s commitment and passion led him to become a manager, now also overseeing quality checks. His journey with Joyya has allowed him to grow, both professionally and personally.
Yet, the role doesn’t come without its challenges. "My work is complex. I have to keep track of email trails and coordinate with different department managers to schedule orders," Rahul explains. "We could simplify things with technology, but right now we don’t have that option. It’s interesting, but also challenging."
On the toughest days, it’s the mission of Joyya that keeps him going. "I am very passionate about my job," he says. "Some days are hard, but I remind myself why I’m here. I’ve never found a company like Joyya—its mission is inspiring. Seeing my colleagues and volunteers, some from foreign lands, work with such dedication moves me. And this is my city, these are my people. I’m happy to contribute to a business with a purpose."
One of Rahul’s most memorable experiences involves a challenging order from Hong Kong. "It was a big order with a tight deadline," he recalls. "I worked closely with the production team to make it happen, and the customer was so pleased they sent me a message of appreciation. That made me smile."
His growth at Joyya has gone beyond his career. "I’ve learned responsibility, how to be a problem solver," Rahul reflects. "Now, I always look for ways to solve things rather than complaining, even in my personal life."
As for the future, Rahul is optimistic. "First of all, improvement," he says. "We’re never 100% perfect. I want to give customers more visibility into their orders. With a new teammate now, I believe our response times will get even faster."
Rahul’s story is one of perseverance, compassion, and growth. "Joyya has helped me become more sensitive to the struggles of others. I’ve become a better version of myself," he shares with pride.
